I will be working with a fourth grade teacher at the school where I work. We are working together on a short social studies unit about the 5 geographic regions in Pennsylvania - focusing on the land forms, natural resources, major cities, industries, and recreation. Our plan is to use a Jigsaw instructional strategy, and incorporate the use of Palm handhelds as students organize, summarize, and present information. We'll use the Internet to find pictures, and have the students work together to create a PowerPoint Jeopardy review game at the end. I'm looking forward to a brief return to 4th grade, which is what I taught for many years!

I will be working with a teacher in BASD, she teaches 5th grade, we are working on developing a lesson that relates to science standards as well as connects the the schools yearly school improvement plan. The topic is on recycling and going GREEN (pretty cool). The students are developing audio podcast commercials and will post then for comment on the web for the school and fellow classmates.

@ali: Slick move with the pingback! Do other students know how to do this? I've never done it myself, so I wouldn't mind seeing how you do it....
@Trish: Great set of ideas! Something that may help you brainstorm is this set of iMovies out of Springfield, IL. For example, if there's a movie about math that seems interesting, you could consider making a podcast version of it, or using it with a set of clickers, etc.

I forgot to add the description... We would like to create some useful podcast for mathematics and organize them into website and/or CD. These would be used for additional student help and review (esp for PSSA). I'm also considering in addition to this a small WebQuest or Clicker type activity. I'd like to examine the kids reaction to the different activities. We'll have to have a good look at the timeline to see if it is doable.

I will be working with a 3rd grade teacher in the Stroudsburg school district. She does do some small technology stuff in her classroom, but by no means a lot. Since kids at early ages tend to struggle most with math, we're going to work to create a few technology items for her classroom.
